“Great high country golf”
5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2016 via mobile
Grand Elk Golf Course offers a terrific golf experience with an incredible panoramic view of the Continental Divide. The course is much like a sea side links course with the majestic mountains as the backdrop instead. This course provides all the challenge you could enjoy with great options for shorter play all the way up to the formidable black tee set-up where, if you drive the ball well and long, you'll still have to make your approach shots carefully.
The greens at Grand Elk are, in my view, what makes this course so fun and challenging to play. Smooth true fast rolls, especially in mid summer, make finishing out each hole a satisfying experience.
This course has it all. Long par fives reachable in 2 with the prevailing wind behind you, a super challenging par three sixth hole into the wind, and the super narrow par four 13th hole dares you to try and drive the green with your best straight drive.
The on-board cart GPS systems make club selection easier and the grill offers great snacks, meals, and beverages.
This Craig Stadler designed course is owned and taken great care of by the homeowners in the Grand Elk Development. It is my personal favorite course when playing golf in Grand County.

Just wanted to say a brief thanks for a great golf season this year. I really liked the option to be a weekday member and feel like I belonged, as well as being able to participate in the club championship.
I feel like you and your staff do a great job (I especially liked Kyle and Daniel). Of course Austin and his guys really got the course in great shape. I heard comments from several Denver players about how they were surprised about the great course condition.
Anyway I look forward to another great season next year.
5 stars - Great course and great scenery! Mike and Austin make this place a phenomenal golf course. Just play it.
Just an end of season note to say thanks to you and your staff.
The course condition this summer exceeded all expectations. I've never seen it better. Hats off to the course superintendent and his crew.
Grand Elk is becoming the golf destination that it deserves to be.
Keep up the great work and I will see you next spring.
We took the "Get Golf Ready" lessons this year and it was such an awesome experience. It gave us enough confidence to get out on the golf course and play. We have been residents of Grand Elk for 10 years and kept saying we were going to take lessons but never followed thru. When Grand Elk offered this program, we decided to give it a serious try and we are loving the game. This is another item we can now check off our bucket list.
Thank you for offering the lessons and I hope more Grand Elk residents (and all Grand County residents) take advantage of the "Get Golf Ready" program, the helpful and friendly staff and get out on the great course that we have available at our finger tips.
Thanks also for a great season!

Grand Elk has been in great shape this year. It gets better every year since the homeowners bought the course. It is definitely my favorite mountain course in the area. I especially like the GPS in the carts. Staff is great too.
I just wanted to comment on the condition of the Grand Elk golf course this summer. Hutch and I have lived here for almost 10 years and we have never seen the course in such wonderful condition. We played with a couple of people from the front range who were here to play all of the Grand county courses, and all commented to us that Grand Elk was by far in the best condition, and one group said they came back here for a second time because they enjoyed playing here so much. Our hats go off the Austin and his wonderful crew, Matt, Andy, Kyle and all of the other golf course crew. It is so nice to see the course restored to the "early years" condition.
I also want to complement the kitchen and restaurant crew, Becky, Kendell, Bea and Mertz, the menu is great, still have the old standby's but the new and unusual wraps are a favorite of mine. The dinners on Friday and Saturday have also been outstanding. The prime rib is second to none, I am so glad we are keeping the restaurant open Friday and Saturday nights during ski season. I will enjoy not cooking and have a delicious option.
The Pro shop is also very organized and all staff courteous and helpful, and the clothing options back to where they should be, in my opinion.
Thank you all staff at Grand Elk, we as homeowners appreciate your hard work and diligence to excellence. Can't wait for golf season 2016!!!
